Workspace - User Interface

Quick Access Toolbar QAT



Access common windows command:
New, Opem, Save, Save As, Plot, Undo, Redo

Ribbon



Ribbon contains tab and panel



Different tab coneains dufferent panel
Different panel contains different command



Eapand the panel to display more commands



File tab (below the ribbon)
Easy to access the open drawings



Command Line
Display the options for the command



Model Space
indicate by UCS icon 
All objects drawn here



Paper Space (Layout)
indicate by Right-angle triangle icon
Layout for plotting



Status bar
Display:
Space: Model or Paper
Drawing tools: Polar Tracking, Object Snap Tracking, Object Snap ...

Settings for Drawing

F10 Polar Tracking
F11 Object Snap Tracking

Drawing Units

Every object you create is measured in drawing units

Enter UN for drawing units

Set the Precision of units


Before drawing, you must decide:
One drawing unit = 1mm
One drawing unit = 1cm
One drawing unit = 1m

New Drawing

Quick Access Toolbar - New


Select AutoCAD template


Select acadiso for metric units

Save Drawing

Save drawing at the previous version

Quick Access Toolbar - Save As


Files of Type: Select the version of the drawing

Navigating in Drawing

Using mouse wheel



Zoom in: Roll Up

Zoom out: Roll down

Pan: Press & Hold

Zoom Extents: Double-click


Coordinate System

Cartesian Coordinate System
Indicate distance along X, Y axes

Polar Coordinate System
Indicate distance and angle to locate a point

Absolute Coordinate System
Enter coordinates based on system origin (0,0)

Relative Coordinate System
Enter coordinates based on last point pick



Dynamic Input

Provides a command interface near the cursor to help you keep your focus in the drafting area


Start a command
1st point is Absolute Cartesian Coordianates
2nd and subsequent points is relative Polar Coordinates
There is no need to type @ for the relative coordinates if dynamic input tirn on

Draw Line with Dynamic Input turn On

Start Line command


1st point is absolute cartesian coordinates
Enter 1000,50


2nd point use direction input
Point up for the angle and enter 300


Next line enter 500 
Press Tab to the 2nd field, enter 30 for the angle


Point up and enter 500


Enter 500 and Tab
Enter 150 for the angle


Point up and enter 300
Enter twice to end the command

Line

Home tab > Draw panel > Line


Pick a point and pointing up at 90 degree


Enter 500


Point to left and enter 500


Point up anter 5000


Point right enter 500


Point up enter 500


Point right enter 3000


Repeat the same steps and distances, draw the right lines
Command line: Close


Draw another line from midpoint to other midpoint


Circle

Home tab > Draw panel > Circle


Pick a center point


Move cursor to right


Enter 500 for the radius


Repeat Circle command
Command line: 3P


Pick 1st point


Pick 2nd point


Pick 3rd point


Repeat Circle command
Command Line: 2P


Pick 1st point


Pick 2nd point

TTR (Tan Tan Radius)


Repeat Circle command
Specify center point


Enter 500 for radius


Start Line command
Pick 1st point at the center of circle


Point cursor to right
Enter 2000 for 2nd point


Enter 500 for radius


Repeat Circle command
Command line: Ttr


Pick the edge of the left circle


Pick the edge of the right circle


Enter radius 1000


The circle touching the edges of the other 2 circles


Draw another circle R500 at the center of the last circle
